THERE has never been a better time to do this.

With the news that we are now in Lockdown Mk 3, January is looking bleaker than usual this new year.

So as well as washing the hands, wearing facemasks and social distancing, keeping the body and mind healthy and building up the immune system is more vital than ever to keep COVID-19 at bay until the vaccine comes.

To that end, it’s definitely worth taking on the annual 31 day January challenge for#positivementalhealth 2021 and you’ll also be helping three great causes.

The beneficiaries this year are Alzheimers Ireland, Rise4Daithi and Baile Mhuire Stroke Day Unit in Tralee.

Organised by Caroline Corkery and Colin ‘Poshey’ Aherne, the event promotes exercise, good mental health, fitness and well being where participants do an activity a day for 31 days — walk 30 mins one day, cycle the next day, swim, yoga, a fitness class etc — once you’re moving and being active it all counts.

It costs €35 which includes a finishers medal, finishers certificate plus cost of postage. The organisers have created a gofundme page where you can donate the €35 and then you have your name down for a medal.

Go to the page by clicking on the following link https://www.gofundme.com/f/31-day-janurary-challenge-2021

They also have a Facebook group where you can post your progress to the group a day which provides great encouragement.

They also have experts in fitness, diet, and mental health experience in the group to help you along in your journey. You can join by clicking on the following link https://www.facebook.com/groups/31daychellenge/
