The bench on fire last night in the Millennium Park.
RESIDENTS were left angry on Thursday evening after one of the benches in a local park was set alight.
Motorists noticed the flames coming from a bench in the Millennium Park opposite Lidl (where the ‘Dove Of Peace sculpture’ is located) on the Castlemaine Road at around 8.30pm. Gardai and the fire service were called and quickly extinguished the blaze.
One local resident contacted TraleeToday.ie to express his disgust at the actions of the vandals. “These benches are used daily by local people and the park is used by families. I am very angry at the needless destruction and the danger the nearby houses were put in from the fire,” they said.

“I hope there is even a small chance of catching those who did it. Tralee is my home and I take pride in my area,” they said.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident or to any suspicious activity in the area around that time to contact them at Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
