THE Christmas Crib in the Square received a blessing yesterday afternoon.

Fr Tadhg Fitzgerald PP of St John’s and Church of Ireland Rev. Jim Stephens performed the joint ceremony watched by a small gathering, while Mark Leen concluded the blessing with a Christmas hymn. The crib was subject to vandalism last year and new statues were found to replace the damaged ones.

Also, the statue of Christie Hennessy was blessed on the 10th anniversary of his death. Two wreaths, one from his wife Gill and the other from Kerry County Council were laid at the foot of the statue and Fr Tadhg Fitzgerald gave a blessing.
