garda_1GARDAI are again warning homeowners about bogus callers who have robbed people’s homes in Tralee and Killarney.

On Friday, October 21 a man posing as a plumber gained access to a woman’s home in the St Anne’s Road area of Killarney on the premise of checking taps. The woman left the house for a few moments and when she returned she found the house ransacked, although nothing was taken.

The suspect in the case is a male acting alone, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, black hair, approximately 5 ft 8 to 5 ft 9 inches, medium build, wearing a navy or dark blue jacket.

A similar type of  incident happened in the New Marian Park area of Tralee on Friday, October 21. A male approached the owner of the house and told him he worked for the Water Board.

He made a request to see the sewer system at the rear of the house. The house was ransacked again but nothing was taken. There is no description  available for this man. Gardaí don’t believe the two incidents are linked because they occurred around the same time.

Gardaí are warning people to always insist on getting the identification and credentials of people who call to homes claiming to represent companies. If in any doubt, contact the gardaí immediately and do not let them into the house.
