TWO local cancer support charities received a boost yesterday when they accepted cheques for a total of nearly €2,300 at the Bon Secours Hospital.

Staff in the hospital canteen made up hampers before Christmas and sold them to fellow workers in the Bons with proceeds going to Kerry Hospice and Comfort For Chemo Kerry.

Maura Sullivan of Kerry Hospice and Cllr Mikey Sheehy of Comfort For Chemo Kerry were on hand to accept the cheques of €1,137.50 each on Tuesday.

Both expressed their heartfelt thanks to the staff for their efforts to help out the causes during what is a difficult time for charities, as their normal means of fundraising has been curtailed due to the pandemic.
