PEOPLE are invited to pay their respects to Detective Garda Colm Horkan by signing books of condolence in Kerry Garda Stations today.
The books are being opened in the public offices of Tralee, Killarney and Listowel Garda stations.
The 49-year-old was shot dead with his own gun in Castlerea, Co. Roscommon late on Wednesday night and a man in his forties remains in Garda custody in relation to the shooting.
