Brain Health Awareness Evening To Be Held At Tralee Hotel

Dr Mary Buckley, Consultant Geriatrician at UHK with Eibhlís Cahalane of the HSE and Kerry footballer David Moran launching the upcoming Brain Health Awareness Evening at the Meadowlands Hotel on July 21.

THE Tralee Dementia Friendly Interagency Group in collaboration with the HSE and with support from Kerry GAA, will present a Brain Health Awareness evening at The Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee later this month.

This is a free event — taking place on Thursday, July 21 from 7-9pm — to promote the importance of brain health.

Kerry senior footballer David Moran was on hand earlier this week to launch the event with Dr Mary Buckley Consultant Geriatrician, University Hospital Kerry.

David said he knows the impact Dementia can have on someone and their family and is delighted to be able to help in promoting this night which should provide support to people living with memory difficulties and also arm us all in keeping our brains healthy and active.

The Key Speaker, Professor Iracema Leroi,  Associate Professor of Geriatric Psychiatry Trinity College Dublin and Faculty of Global Brain Health Institute, will discuss the importance of brain health and what we can do to promote brain health and maintain memory.

Professor Iracema’s clinical work is based at the Mercer’s Institute for Successful Ageing in Dublin, and she is currently the principal investigator with Dementia Trials Ireland.

A Panel Discussion will include experts on the Fair Deal process and Enduring Power of Attorney, Dementia Advisors and Kerry Memory Technology Resource Room.

There will be a variety of community support and information stands available on the night.
