RECENTLY my husband and I were married 16 years and with four kids, we do not get many breaks away.
But on this anniversary we decided a weekend away was in order and decided a trip to the newly refurbished Strand@Inch beach would be perfect.
So on a Saturday morning, I dropped the kids to their nan’s and got my hair done. It felt like I was going on my holidays!
With our bags packed we headed for Inch and 30 minutes later we were at the hotel. The Strand overlooks the stunningly 2km beach, which, in 1970, was the the famous beach featured in the movie ‘Ryan’s Daughter’.
My first impression was the lovely play area outside for kids and a great barbecue area. I imagined how lovely after a day on the beach this would be to relax at.

We checked in and were brought to our room and talk about a room with a view! It was breathtaking to see the beach below us.
Our evening meal was delicious, my husband had steak and I had a chicken stir fry, which was the best I ever had. And as for the homemade chips; yum-yum.
The owners knew it was our wedding anniversary and made us a special chocolate cake, which was a lovely touch. The craic in the bar was brilliant with a very chilled and relaxed atmosphere. It reminded me weekends away B.C. (before kids).
To wake up to the sound of the ocean did feel like a proper getaway. We started Sunday with a magnificent breakfast, guilt-free because included in our break away was a surf lesson to burn off the calories.
We really enjoyed the morning in the beach and the whole weekend was the perfect breakaway. I felt we had been away a longer time and it was just what the doctor ordered.
