Breda Sheehan from Kilflynn will take part in a skydive in aid of the NCBI this month.

NCBI employee Breda Sheehan from Kilflynn, sees jumping out of a plane to raise funds for the  national sight loss agency as “the easy option”!

The intrepid lady who manages NCBI retail shop in Ashe Street, Tralee is about to take a skydive for the the National Council for the Blind Ireland on September 16 but she’s fairly blasé about it.

“Well I look at it like this, I don’t have to spend months pounding pavements to get in shape, I don’t have any specific exercises to do and I don’t have to walk or run for miles; I just jump out of the plane and that’s it!” she said.

“It is yet another new experience and I am actually looking forward to it  as opposed to feeling nervous . I am quite practical and I know that the staff at the club are excellent, the health and safety checks are all in place so I will be in safe hands,” said Breda of the skydive which takes place at the Irish Parachute Club in Edenderry Co. Offaly.

Paying tribute to the many volunteers who give their time freely to help her out in the busy NCBI shop Breda says; “They have been here for years and will be here for many more years to come, they are the backbone really of the whole operation, so even though people might say “Oh, you’re  jumping thousands of feet, I feel I am only trotting after their efforts!”.

Breda is busy raising funds and this is going well as  the specially prepared ‘lucky bags’ she is selling from the shop are “flying out, I am getting fantastic support and it’s great knowing that the money raised is going to a fabulous cause”.

So, if you’d like to contribute to Breda’s skydive for NCBI you know what to do, pop into the shop on Ashe Street and pick up a lucky bag or two!
