FIANNA FÁIL MEP Brian Crowley has announced that he will not contest the European elections in May this year.
Crowley is the longest-serving Irish MEP in Europe having topped the poll in Munster and Ireland South in every European Parliament election since 1994.
However, due to ill-health, he has decided to retire from politics. He has been unable to attend a single session of the current European Parliament due to ongoing health complications. He announced his decision at a press conference in Cork this afternoon.
