A CHEQUE of €1,000 was presented by the President of the Irish International Bridge Congress Trish Stack to Maureen O’Brien of Recovery Haven.

The sum was raised through the annual Bridge Congress that is played over the New Year’s period in Tralee. The Bridge community in Tralee have raised over €3,000 for charity this season.

The fundraiser was run in conjunction with the Irish International Bridge Congress in aid Recovery Haven sponsored by Manor West Hotel.

“This money goes to help the excellent work by this badly needed local charity which not only supports people going through the journey of cancer, but also supports their families and friends,” said Tom Hardiman of the Irish International Bridge Congress.

There is a community bridge centre in Tralee where bridge classes are held regularly. Bridge is played four nights a week and two afternoons. The next Bridge congress takes place at the Rose Hotel in September.
