IT’S not just the primary and secondary schools that are back in action this September.

Bryan Carr School of Performing Arts recommences its singing, acting and dance classes at Collis Sands this Saturday and is looking for new members.

“I am really looking forward to this term; its great to go from the Rose of Tralee co-ordination to preparing 30 of our students for Musical Theatre Exams this month so it keeps the year interesting and fresh” said Bryan who has been teaching singing in Stage Schools in Kerry for over 13 years.

Formed back in September 2008 the Stage School has gone from strength to strength producing several variety shows with the full musical productions of ‘A Christmas Carol, ‘Annie The Musical’ and this Christmas it will be ‘Seussical the Musical’ for Siamsa Tire.

The Tralee School runs every Saturday at Collis Sands House, Oakpark and every Thursday at the Quality Hotel for his Killarney students and is open to children and teenagers from four to 18 years of age.

The students receive classes in singing, dance and drama from qualified teachers. Bryan himself is no stranger to the stage having performed for Opera Ireland and all over the globe with various Irish Dance shows, producing his own touring show during this time.

He has a singing background in Classical and Musical Theatre performance and is currently completing his Licentiate in the teaching of Singing.

Bryan Carr School of Performing Arts is holding its open day this Saturday September 13 for their Tralee School (11am-2pm for 4-12 years & 2-5pm for 12-18 years) and the following Thursday September 18 for their Killarney School (4-6pm for 4-12 years).

“We always encourage students to come along for the first two weeks and try us out and see if they enjoy the few hours; it’s a great way to build confidence, meet like-minded students and get a good grounding in all aspects of the arts,” said Bryan.
