IN what can only be described as a crime of the lowest order, the Kerry-based Bumbleance Charity was robbed on Thursday at the National Ploughing Championships.

Medical equipment and bandages were taken from presses in the incident which Tony Heffernan described as a set-back. He said they are selling tickets as a fundraiser so they will have to sell a few extra hundred to make up for the loss.

He said they have received great support up at the ploughing championships for the charity.

Bumbleance, the brainchild of Tony and Mary Heffernan from Keel, is a charity which has a specially designed ambulance for sick children who require transportation between home and the national treatment centres, hospice and respite centres.

They hope to buy another Bumbleance next year and recently did the Dingle to Dublin push to fundraise for it.
