TO celebrate retaining the Purple Flag in Tralee, the Tralee Chamber Alliance has teamed up with the Bars of Tralee to bring an extra special ‘Live on the Mall’ to town this October Bank Holiday.

Following on from recent successes with live events on the Mall under a Marquee, the Chamber and Bars are hosting a live busking competition on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this October Bank Holiday weekend, from 6-9pm nightly – all to celebrate the night-time life of Tralee. The marquee will shift slightly to one side of the street so it can stay open for traffic.

The bars of Tralee will also host a series of live gigs in pubs throughout Tralee with ‘purple drinks’.

Kerry County Council are also taking on the task of lighting up public building throughout the town with Purple Lighting, all of which will add to the overall atmosphere in the town centre this bank holiday.

John McElligott of Sean Og’s of Tralee said; “This is just the start of a stronger focus for the next year by all the bars of Tralee to help the vibrancy of our town at night. We are delighted to have retained the purple flag once again in Tralee”.

Ken Tobin of Tralee Chamber Alliance said; “Through the Chamber, over the next year we plan on developing more events and promotions with the Bars of Tralee. We have some incredible bars in town, and we need to encourage more people to come out enjoy the atmosphere in our pubs”.

With a prize fund of €1500 donated by the bars of Tralee, any Busker interested in taking part in the competition is asked to email the Chamber at artsofficer@tralee.ie with more details on the Tralee Whats On Facebook page and through all participating bars in Tralee.
