PUPILS at Caherleaheen National School went to great efforts a couple of weeks ago to raise funds for the Kerry Hospice Foundation.

As part of the Hospice’s National Coffee Morning event, teacher Damien Finn’s fourth class pupils from the school held an event co-ordinated by teacher Bríd Murphy and eventually raised €540.

The pupils and their parents made up a lot of sweet and savoury goodies the night before and on Friday the school invited the parents and the other pupils in the school to buy something for €1.

“We were delighted to help out, it’s a great cause and it touched every family,” said Principal Mary Connolly.

Maura O’Sullivan and Nuala Finnegan were on hand on Thursday to accept a cheque for €546. “We’re very happy and grateful to the pupils, parents and the staff for their efforts,” said Maura.
