A LOCAL councillor has called for some sort of recognition to given to a local Garda who has done so much for the Tralee community.
At the meeting of Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council on Monday, Sinn Féin Cllr Deirdre Ferris said Garda Mary Gardiner has proven to be a valuable member of the community over the years.
As a Community Garda, Cllr Ferris said the Cork native has done amazing work for the people of the town, especially during the pandemic.

She also mentioned the Garda’s participation in charity fundraisers and her dancing skills in viral videos which have helped raise many thousands of euros for worthy causes.
Cllr Ferris said the Council should arrange for some sort of community award to be presented for her contribution to the town and she was supported by her fellow councillors in her proposal.
