A TRALEE councillor has asked the Council to consider letting land adjacent to The Rose Hotel to be used as a car park during upcoming Kerry GAA matches.

Cllr Pa Daly of Sinn Fein made a request to Kerry County Council, at its monthly meeting on Monday afternoon, that the vacant grounds which extend from the roundabout at Ballymullen to The Rose Hotel be used during Kerry’s Allianz National League football matches against Mayo and Dublin in the coming months.

Kerry play Mayo on Saturday, February 11 and Dublin on Saturday, March 18.

These are both night games so it is anticipated that a significant number of away team supporters will make the journey to Tralee to make a weekend of it, especially as they fall on Valentine’s and St Patricks weekends.

Parking will be at a premium for these games so the opening up of the grounds will especially benefit people travelling from the west of the county. The council has agreed to look at the request.
