IT wasn’t the greatest of games, but it was certainly an epic!
Austin Stacks booked their place in the Munster Club Championship final after a three point win, 0-15 to 1-9, over Ballincollig at a sunny Austin Stack Park on Sunday afternoon.
They become the first Tralee team to contest the Munster Final since Kerins O’Rahilly’s in 2009, when they were pipped by Kilmurry/Ibrickane.
The venue is to be decided later, but Thurles could be a likely option after The Nire of Waterford beat Clare’s Cratloe in the other semi-final.
The Rockie hordes were out in force again but Ballincollig brought a huge crowd and almost completely took over the stand.
The Stacks fans were made to sweat though as the game went to extra-time, but a flurry of points in the first period gave the Tralee side breathing space and they never looked back.
There was joy and relief when the final whistle sounded and the black and amber can look forward to another day out.
Well done lads.
