The final of the North Kerry Intermediate hurling final was played on the beautiful surface that is the Kilmoyley pitch.

Causeway played with the wind in the first half and were always in control from beginning to end.

Cyril Dineen opened the scoring for Causeway he later added a goal, John Mike Dooley popped over three points, the other scores in the first half came from Padraigh Harty, Stephen Goggin, Adam Whyte and Bryan Cantillon.

Abbeydorney only managed one point in that period as they tried to manage the stiff breeze, that point came from Ronan Donovan.

Half-time score Causeway 1-8 Abbeydorney 0-1. Abbeydorney and most of the spectators expected the wind would improve their challenge, but Causeway brought Stephen Goggin back as a sweeper and he mopped up everything that came his way, he also distributed lovely ball to the forwards.

Try as they might Abbeydorney could not spark a revival. That Abbeydorney revival became impossible when Dooley bagged a goal and added three more points, Richard Casey tapped over a point to complete the Causeway tally.

Nigel Roche pointed a free for Abbeydorney and Ronan Donovan added his second to leave the final score Causeway 2-12 Abbeydorney 0-3.

Kieran Leahy was presented with The Kit Browne Cup. Such a pity that the board didn’t arrange for the manicured field to be lined for a final.
