COLLEAGUES of Marc Ó Sé at CBS The Green threw a surprise party for him on Friday to say thanks for his 14 years of service to the Kerry senior football team.

“I have been very lucky that they have been very supportive down through the years,” said Marc who began teaching in The Green back in 2004, the year he picked up his first of his five senior All-Ireland medals.

“It’s very hard to play football at a high level and work as well at the same time, but when you have the support that I enjoyed it makes it a lot easier. I’d like to thank them for everything they’ve done for me,” said Marc, whose partner Ellen is also a teacher at the school.

“That’s when it’s going to be hard, watching them play and not playing that’s when it will hit home. But look, I’m a supporter now so I’ll go up as supporter next year and I look forward to seeing them play. I’ll play a bit of golf as well maybe, there are exciting times ahead and I have my small little man who’s only a few months old, so he’ll take up a lot of time himself,” said Marc.

The Irish and History teacher is in charge of The Green football team this year but is looking no further than that as a coach.”I’ll play football with An Ghaeltacht for the next few years so hopefully that will keep me busy,” said Marc.
