Tralee CBS will go head to head with their age old rivals The Sem in Fitzgerald Stadium next Friday as their respective under 15 teams look to lift the Br Colm Taft (formerly Corn Ui Mhorain) Cup.

This prestigious competition was first played for in 1966 with Colaiste Christ Ri holding the most honours with 14 victories.

St Brendan’s Killarney are closing in on this accolade however with their victory last year being their twelfth. Tralee CBS have won this title seven times in 1986, 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1999 and 2005. The sides last met in the final in 2013.

Following their victory at this level last year ,the Sem have continued in a similar vein this year, with facile victories over Pobail Scoil Chorca Dhuibhne (7-18 to 0-10) in the quarter final and Colaiste Chriost Ri (8-19 to 2-5) in the semi final.

The Green have booked their final berth thanks to victories over St Flannans (5-16 to 3-10) in the quarter finals and over Rochestown (4-13 to 5-6) in the semi final.

With victory last year and the huge margins of victory in previous rounds, The Sem will go into this one as red hot favourites.

The Green will rely on Annascaul duo of Dara Hickson Spillane and Sean Kennedy as well as two sets of twins John and Terrance Carmody and Jack and David Moriarty from Currow.

In attack, captain Joseph Linehan (Churchill), Conor O’Sullivan (Kerins O’Rahillys) and Cian Purcell (Austin Stacks) have shone in previous rounds, whilst Luke Chester and Armin Heinrich (Austin Stacks) are the bedrock of the side at the back.

The Green will look forward to this one but will have to at the peak of their powers to halt St Brendan’s Killarney continued domination.
