STUDENTS at CBS The Green are preparing to tread the boards once again in a new production running next week.

Anne Fine’s ‘Flour Babies’ will be staged on Wednesday, May 3 and Thursday, May 4 at the school. The play follows a class of underachievers in an all-boys school tasked with taking care of a bag of flour as if it was a baby, as par of a Science Week project.

Of course that’s not as straight forward as it sounds and it makes for some very funny moments and no little drama.

The play is being staged by Transition Year students who have already staged a Christmas play, ‘The Grinch Who Stole Christmas’. The previous couple of years have seen students perform ‘A Wake In The West’ and ‘The Field’, thus revitalising drama in the school.

All TY students are involved in different aspects of the play and have been rehearsing and working diligently. Students from other years have also got involved this year while students from Presentation Secondary School will be taking part in the production.

The play will be directed by Maeve Burke, who has been involved in previous productions, while she has been aided in many ways by other teachers.

The show starts at 7.30pm each night. Students are €5, adults are €10. They can be bought at the school office or on the door on the night.
