THREE CBS The Green students were honoured in the Garda National Youth Awards.
In January 2020, Michael Carroll, Padraig Crean and Michael Kirby were the recipients of a Kerry Garda Youth Achievement Award in the Community Safety category.
As a result of this they were sent forward as the representative from the Kerry Division in that category for the National Youth Awards.
In October 2020, a virtual ceremony took place to present the winners of the National Youth Awards.

The Virtual Ceremony was attended by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, Deputy Garda Commissioner Anne-Marie McMahon, Minister for Justice Ms Helen McEntee and Mr Bernard Brogan former Dublin Footballer, each of whom presented the winners in the four different categories.
All the winners in each categories were invited to attend along with their families.
Unfortunately at that time Covid restrictions did not allow for the trophies to be presented to the award winners in person. On Monday, December 14 at CBS The Green, Tralee the presentation of the Community Safety Award took place and Michael Carroll, Padraig Crean and Michael Kirby were presented with their award.
The presentation was also attended by local Gardaí from Tralee Garda Station and Anthony Cronin, teacher in CBS who nominated the three students for the award.
The Award was given to them for their project on Farm Safety which was aimed at highlighting the dangers around the farm in five key areas namely Livestock, Machinery, Drowning Gas, Falling objects and Tractors.
They created a book on farm safety for children which is called “Farm Safety with Seán Óg and Cáit” and it has been recognised as an effective tool in the fight against the scourge of family farm accidents.
