THE new Tralee Chamber Alliance Board will take a more hands-on role in the efforts to drive employment growth over the coming 12 months and to raise the profile of Tralee as the capital of Kerry.
A meeting of the TCA Board, facilitated by Breda O’Dwyer from the Institute of Technology Tralee, took place at the Pavilion in Ballygarry House Hotel on Thursday where a number of ideas were generated in the interest of boosting the local economy through job creation in education, technology, tourism and manufacturing.
“The first two years have been rewarding as we have succeeded in making in-roads towards achieving our short-term goals,” said President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Pádraig McGillicuddy.
“We now need to tackle some slower-burning projects with a focus on helping to create jobs in technology, education and tourism. The next step will require the support of our members and the local community at large as we continue in our efforts to make Tralee a great place in which to live and work.”
The Board identified the redevelopment of the old Denny Factory site in the town centre, which was donated to the former Tralee Town Council by Kerry Group, as a priority project that would regenerate the town centre.
Tralee Chamber Alliance will work closely with the Kerry County Council Executive members of the TCA Board on a number of infrastructural issues, including the transformation of the Denny site.
