TRALEE Chamber Alliance (TCA) has confirmed that they are currently in advanced talks with four national and international retailers with a view to setting up in Tralee.

It follows the strong representation from the business representative body for Kerry’s capital at the recent Retail Excellence Ireland National Expo in Dublin.

In a highly competitive sector, nine other towns and counties at the retail expo were all vying for the attention of these retailers.

Tralee Chamber Alliance has invested considerable time and energy in engaging with many high-profile retailers from Ireland and abroad to encourage them to open in Tralee.

The Chief Executive of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Ken Tobin, said: “Four companies are giving serious consideration to opening in Tralee town centre, but some work remains to be done to support them to open in Tralee. In order to secure more retailers for Tralee, we need to actively support landlords and local developers to re-imagine and expand their properties in the town centre. As it stands, we do not have enough available large retail units in the town centre to help attract bigger brand name retailers to Tralee.

“Towns and retail businesses are in a new phase and considerable work needs to be done over the coming years to help Tralee adapt, and to support businesses undertake the necessary changes. What people want from the town is completely different to what it was even 10 years ago.”

Tralee Chamber Alliance recently became a Strategic Partner with Retail Excellence Ireland for 2019-2020 which will act as a support resource to the TCA Retail team comprised of both Town centre and Manor West retailers, who are actively developing support programmes for existing retailers in Tralee.

“Retail is the soul and character of Tralee, there is no doubt that retail is constantly changing, not just in Tralee but in all large towns and cities, and it’s through strong collaboration, promotion and partnerships like this we can increase trade and support our retail members as well as attract new retailers to Tralee,” said Ken Tobin.
