Chamber Welcomes 15% Drop In Tralee Live Register Figure Over Past Year

TRALEE Chamber Alliance has welcomed the latest CSO figures which show Tralee’s Live Register figure has decreased by 15% in the past year.

Last month’s figure was 3,320 compared to 3,823 in October of 2017. Kerry’s Live Register has decreased by 14% in the same period, with just over 6,912 people signed on in Kerry.

President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Aidan Kelly, welcomed the drop; “Recent jobs announcements, including recruitment drives by Sigmar and Amazon have, no doubt, had a positive impact on the employment situation in Kerry’s capital town.

The IDA’s Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) at the Kerry Technology Park and the Island of Geese site in particular, also present a great opportunity to create more jobs in the Tralee. In addition to finding a long-term tenant for the AMF, a greater effort must be played by State and private businesses, working even closertogether to utilise the significant creative, marketing and technology skills already based within the town and amongst our diaspora abroad.”

Meanwhile, at the meeting of Tralee Municipal District on Monday, Cllr Jim Finucane requested that Kerry County Council write to the IDA to arrange a meeting with their representatives, including CEO and Abbeydorney native Martin Shanahan, regarding the Advanced Manufacturing Facility.
