A TRALEE dad will shave off his beard and hair on Saturday to raise funds for an organisation who helped his family so much over the past number of years.

His daughter Erin is a seven year old girl who suffers from a rare condition called Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T).

Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T) affects only about 500 people worldwide. It combines the worst symptoms of muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, immune system disorder and sufferers have a 1,000 times greater chance of getting cancer.

This Saturday, Erin’s Father, Paul O’Sullivan, will take part in a charity head shave to raise funds for the A-T Society.

“We decided we wanted to give something back to the A-T Society for all they have done for us over the years. And it’s not just for what they’re doing for us as a family, they also provide funding for research to find a cure,” said Erin’s Mom, Caroline O’Sullivan when we spoke to her back in June (see original story here).

‘The Big Grizzly Head and Beard Shave’ will take place at Woodies DIY. Paul, who has been growing his beard for a year now, is due to get the chop at 3.30pm with Erin making the first cut to her dad’s locks with the clippers.

At the charity event there will be face-painting along with other entertainment for all the family.
