An example of what was planned for the ‘Christmas Candle Spectacular’ at the Wetlands.

DUE to bad weather conditions forecasted for tomorrow, a ‘Christmas Candle Spectacular’ which was meant to take place at the Wetlands has been moved to St John’s Church in Castle Street.

In what was a novel idea, people who may have lost someone in their lives over the last year were encouraged to light a candle and float it on the lake at the Wetlands.

With impending treacherous weather on the horizon, plans for what would have been a moving vigil at the outdoor facility have been scuppered. It has now been switched to St John’s Church, tomorrow night, Tuesday at 8pm.

“It’s such a pity, I think it was a fantastic idea, but at this time of year you can’t really count on the weather,” said Junior Locke of St Vincent de Paul.

There will still be an opportunity to light a candle, each one costing €3 with all proceeds going to St Vincent de Paul.

The event is organised in conjunction with St Vincent de Paul and Tralee Chamber Alliance.
