Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Terry O’Brien made the announcement at this morning’s meeting of Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council.

In previous years, the free parking period was only from 1pm each day, but this has been extended.

Parking will be free in all local authority car parks where pay and display currently operates, which includes the car parks at Garvey’s, the Brandon carpark, ‘Slatts’ car park off John Joe Sheehy Road, the car park near Balloonagh school junction, St John’s, the Abbey car park and the ones near small Tesco/Ivy Terrace in the town centre. On-street parking will remain pay and display.

People are encouraged to park responsibly. Mayor O’Brien wished to remind the public that there is already a free parking period currently in operation in Council-run car parks from 9am to 11am every morning.
