Scór na bPáistí: Churchill competed in the Tralee / St Brendan’s Board district final last Wednesday evening. In the Ballad group, Churchill were represented by Billy Doyle, Lily Parker, Aoife O’Brien, Nell Ryan Moriarty & Conor O’Sullivan & even though they performed excellently, unfortunately they were beaten by Na Gaeil.

They can be very proud of their performance on the night & it was great to see & hear a guitar, tin whistle & violin as part of their performance. Lily Parker also competed in the solo singing & won. She is now through to the North Kerry Final on the 23rd March.

U14 Ladies: Churchill played Dingle / Annascaul at home in the second round of the county league last week. Even though Churchill dominated for long periods in the first half, we had a lot of wides & only led at half time by 2 points.

However, in the second half, Churchill took control of the game with Lana Gaudino playing a stormer in the full back line and Laura Reilly & Lisa Cassidy working tirelessly at midfield. Up front Muireann O’Brien & Lily Parker were causing problems with Nell Ryan Moriarty at full forward scoring 2 goals. Final score: Churchill 4-08 Dingle / Annascaul 1-05.

Our U12’s took a weekend off Town League to have a challenge match on bank holiday Monday against Listowel. We fielded 2 teams. On team 1 we looked off the pace and were outplayed for long periods in the game.

On a positive note, our backline were really strong and we played some nice football in patches. We will have learned a lot from this match, our work rate needs to increase, awareness and ball skills are not quite what they should be but overall a worth while challenge to start preparing for division 2.

On the contrary our 2nd team played some lovely flowing, pacey football. The skill level was at a high standard and really encouraging for the year ahead. Some of our U10’s playing with the team are a joy to watch. Well done to everyone playing.

Minor: Churchill made it three wins out of three in the Co League with an impressive 9 point win over Milltown/Castlemaine on Saturday last.  The final score in Churchill was 2-12 to 0-09. Next up is a trip to Cromane to play Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane on Sunday morning at 11am.

Senior: After a week off last weekend, Churchill continue their Co League campaign when we welcome Waterville to Churchill at 2pm on Sunday afternoon.  Come along and support the lads.

Referee Course: Churchill GAA are urgently seeking to recruit a club referee for Senior and Minor matches. Full training will be provided. Please contact club secretary, Aidan Murphy, for further details. Training commences on 29th March.

Cub Night Out:  After the success of our Lip Sing and Strictly Come Dancing in recent years Churchill GAA are delighted to announce that we will be holding a special night of entertainment on Sunday 5th May. More details to follow shortly.
