rsz_1churchill_gaa_2A mixed weekend on the football field for our Senior teams, with the Senior team losing narrowly to Castlegregory and the B team winning well against the same opposition.

Div 4 Co. League
Churchill were narrowly defeated at home on Saturday evening by Castlegregory. In a low scoring 1st half Churchill got the first point on the board with a well taken point by Keith Rolls in the 1st minute.

Castlegregory free taker, Anto Kelliher, responded with a free in the 3rd minute but Churchill were back in front after 5 minutes with a point from Conor Daly. Castlegregory regained the lead following another free from Anto Kelliher and a fine long range effort from Michael O’Se on the 23rd minute.

In a half that ended level Churchill scored two points in a minute from Michael O’Brien and Mark O’Connor in the 28th minute but conceded the last score to Castlegregory’s Anto Kelliher.

Churchill gave up another point from free at the start of the 2nd half but were back in the lead on 43mins following points from Michael O’Brien (37min) and Ciaran Crowley (43min).

Castlegregory hit for goal on 45 minutes through Brandon Hoare. Undeterred Churchill got back into the game with points from Ivan Parker (47mins) and Michael O’Brien (48min). They opened up a lead of 2 points following a free from Parker (50min) and a score from Chris Hurley (52min).

However this was their last score of the game and with the concession of 2 frees in the 28th and 29th minute Castle were back level after both were kicked by Anto Kelliher and 2 minutes later he kicked the winner in injury time.

Junior League
Well done to the ‘B’ team finished off their League campaign with a victory over Castlegregory in The Spa on Friday night on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-9. They are top of their group and through to the knock-out stages.
Kerry Juniors
Well done to Mikey Brennan and Cillian Fitzgerald who were part of the victorious Kerry Junior team who defeated Tipperary in the Munster Semi-Final last weekend. Good luck in the Final.
Juveniles
Well done to Damien Doherty, Spa School, who played at half time in Semple Stadium last Sunday in the Go-Games exhibition. Good luck to Darragh O’Sullivan, Fenit School, who will be playing at half time in the Munster Final in Killarney.
