I attended a very enjoyable function in the Meadowlands Hotel on Friday night when St. John A.C. presented Donal Crowley with a life-time award for his service to athletics and the club over the last 6 decades.Many of his athletics friends and from Churchill GAA Club attended.The night began when Christy Murray introduced a surprised Donal to the crowd.
Then Jim o Shea spoke about Donal.David Kissane then interviewed Donal on his long career.The highlight was he said he beat Gerry Kiernan twice.Kevin Lynch spoke about his involvement with Oakpark Community Games.
Another highlight was when trained the local SPA/FENIT/BARROW relay team to win the gold in Mosney.The final speaker on the night was local Spa man and life-long friend of Donals,Jim Wrenn. Jim spoke about Donal growing up in the Spa and about his wonderful playing career with Churchill Gaa team,the highlight which was winning a Novice County Medal in 1972.

CHRISTMAS COOKING:
Celebrity chef Frank Moynihan will give a demonstration of Christmas Day cooking at the Parish Centre Hall, Fenit on Tuesday, 2 December from 8pm to 10pm. Tickets €10. Proceeds will be donated to Fenit Parish Centre and the Kerry/Cork Health Link Bus.
