rsz_1churchill_gaa_2SENIORS: Churchill put in a convincing performance at home on Saturday running out and comfortable winners against Dromid Pearses on a scoreline of 1-14 to 0-08.

In the beginning, Dromid showed signs of why they were top of the table with Chris Farley scoring 2 quick points in the opening minute.

However, Churchill got the next 4 points through Ger McCarthy with 3 frees from the ground and Michael O’Brien (9min) scoring a point from play. Dromids scored again with a point from a free by Donnacha O’Sullivan on 14 minute to keep them in contention.

On the 15th minute Michael Brennan ran from deep waltzing through the Dromid defense to strike a shot low to the keepers right to extend Churchill lead.

Churchill, now with the tails up and playing with a strong wind made their dominance count for the rest of the half by scoring 7 unanswered points.

On 17 minutes Ciaran Crowley scored a fine point from distance followed by a point from Ivan Parker on 18. Brian Hill followed up with a point (22 min). Churchill knowing they had to defend a strong wind kept pushing hard and McCarthy scored 1 frees and 1 45 late in the half on 27th and 30th minute. There was still time for Hill to score his 2nd point of the half from play.

The Churchill Under 12’s

Churchill Under 12’s: What a fantastic game of football we saw last Wednesday evening at home to a strong Keel outfit in the last round of the County League.

We came up just short, losing out by a single point on a scoreline of 4-10 to 1-18. The team gave everything they had and can be very proud of themselves. Well done!

All year long they have been greatly improving and their football is a joy to watch, from some superb tough defending to the brilliant movement and score taking of the forwards. Keep up the practising and training everyone. Training continues every Thursday night from 6.30 to 7.45pm.
Churchill Under 13’s: Our Under 13’s took on Na Gaeil last Sunday evening in our new pitch in the central league. Playing into a very strong wind in the first half, we kicked some great scores and trailed by 5 points at the break, where Damien Doherty and Joseph Lenihan played very well in midfield.

We came more into it in the second half, with Caoimhin Finn, Dara Heim, Cian Kearney defending tenaciously and Darragh O’ Sullivan and Dara Murphy and Brian Hamilton linking well in the forwards.

We scored a late goal to leave us trailing by a single point with minutes left but Na Gaeil pulled away to win by 4 points. Hard luck lads! We also have Austin Stacks and Ballymac coming up in this competition in the next couple weeks.
