The Centenary Churchill GAA 10k Road Race, in conjunction with runthekingdom.ie, and 5k Family walk was held in dry and calm conditions last Sunday morning.

There was a great buzz in the village as over 120 runners left the Oyster Tavern just after 10am to see how quickly they could negotiate the roads of the parish and make it back to the Oyster again.

About the same time, a large number of families, young and old headed off in the opposite direction on their slightly shorter walk.

The younger and more energetic participants decided to run the 5K but whether people ran, walked or cycled everyone made it back safely and in one piece. Teas, Coffees, Buns and refreshments were provided at the finish line to all participants.

The club would like to thank all sponsors, stewards and anyone who assisted on the day to make this a very enjoyable event. We would also like to thank all those who participated – all funds raised will go towards the running of the club and the further development of our new pitch.

Juveniles

The season has finished up for most age groups, but our U-10s have been invited to a blitz organised by Austin Stacks next Sunday 25th October.

This is a prestigious blitz, as Kilmacud Crokes from Dublin will also be participating, so it is a great chance for the U-10s to display their skills against teams from outside the county.

We wish them the best of luck in the blitz. Final training session will be held in The Spa at 5:30 on Friday 23rd October, at which time the mentors will have more details on the blitz.
