U12:

On a glorious Sunday evening in Fossa our U12 teams put up  brave battling displays against 2 very strong Fossa teams.

In the A game we fell well behind in the first half but the boys showed fantastic character right up until the final whistle. We will learn a lot from this game for the remainder of the campaign.

Gearoid,Oran,Oisin and Ben fought hard all night in the backs. Eddie, Darragh and the two Cians worked very hard in midfield at various spells and David,Paddy and John Joe foraged well in the forward line all night. Everyone can be very proud of the character they showed in this game.

The B team were unlucky to lose by the bare point. David Chute made some fantastic saves in goals as well as having some Stephen Cluxton style kick outs.

Josh,Gearoid and Harvey held things together in the backs while Ruairi and Dylan dominated in midfield. Barry, Donagh and Kieran kept the Fossa backs busy all night in the forward line.

Training resumes on Thursday evening at 6.15 as normal.

Academy:

The U10 team will take part in a St. Brendans go games blitz organised for 7PM on Thursday in St. Pats. All players to meet there at 6:40.

The U6/U8/U10 academy training will continue again on Sunday at 11AM in the field in the Spa. There are some games coming up in the near future so a big effort required at training in preparation for these outings.

Minors: The minors play Ballymac this Friday in the League Final. Keep an eye on the website for time and venue.

Seniors:

Churchill entertained Ballydonoghue in Rd 1 of the Premier Junior Championship in Churchill on Saturday evening.

It was the home side that settled quickest with two early points from Oisin O’Brien and Cillian Fitzgerald, the latter a tremendous score from near the sideline. Kieran Lynch replied for the visitors before O’Brien scored his second point off the post.

Michael Brennan then won the ball in midfield and burst through the middle, but saw his rasping shot come back off the crossbar. Ballydonoghue settled into the game and took the lead with three unanswered points. Churchill equalised with an O’Brien free, but the visitors started to make use of the breeze and racked up the next 1-03.

A pointed free and an Ivan Parker goal brought Churchill back within two points, but as the hosts looked to be gaining momentum, Brian Seanachain won a hard ball in midfield and fed Dara Sheehy who finished to the net. HT score 2-08 to 1-05 to Ballydonoghue.

In a hard fought and entertaining second half, scores were hard to come by for both teams. Churchill scored the first three points of the half to get back within 3 points of Ballydonoghue, including a Cillian Fitzgerald effort from outside the 50m line.

Ballydonoghue responded with 2 frees and a Michael Brennan score from way out the field was to be the last score of the game. Despite Ballydonoghue being reduced to 14 men with minutes remaining, Churchill could not find the penetration to reduce the gap.

The game ended on a final score of Churchill 1-09 ; Ballydonoghue 2-10. Paul Kennelly and Brian Seanachain were best for the winners, while Michael Brennan and Karl Sheehy impressed for Churchill.
