rsz_1churchill_gaa_2U16: Churchill under 16s won the Division 1 of the Tralee Town League on Thursday night with a victory over Na Gaeil in Oakpark. Our lads struggled to make their dominance count early on and there was only a few scores between the teams at half time. Churchill came out more focused in the 2nd half and managed to get the scores to open up a lead.

Na Gaeil tried hard to mount a comeback but Churchill held on to record a deserved win by 7 points. Overall it was a very determined team effort from all the Churchill lads, who also played some great football on the night. Well done to all. It has been a very successful year for everyone involved from players, mentors and parents.

Academy: We had a huge turnout of U6’s, U8’s and U10’s when Laune Rangers came to visit on Sunday morning. It was great to see so many parents out supporting the kids and a big thank you to the Killorglin club for coming up to play.

On Wednesday the U10 team will train in the Spa from 6:30 to 7:30PM.

The Siobhán Cotter Tournament will take place next Sunday morning, 9th of October from 11AM. Players are asked to be on the field from 10:45and support from parents and mentors will be greatly appreciated. It will involve last years winners Austin Stacks, the previous years winners Ballymac, our neighbours Ardfert and ourselves. The age groups of U7, U8, U9 & U10 will take part in the competition while our U6 team will play Ardfert in an exhibition game. Good luck to everyone involved.

Churchill Fun/Run Walk:

The Churchill 6k Family Fun Run/Walk takes place on Sunday 16th October and starts from the Community Centre in the Spa at 1pm. Registration details are available on the Churchill GAA website and our Facebook page.

Senior B:

Churchill B’s came up just short against a strong Skellig Rangers team in their Championship Semi-Final replay under lights in John Mitchels on Friday evening. Rangers had the ideal start with an early goal, but Churchill responded with one of their own when Oisin O’Brien finished to the net from a tight angle.

Churchill began to get on top in midfield with Jack O’Connell and Paul McElligott winning a lot of possession, but we were struggling to convert possession in to scores.

The half back line of John Carmody, Gearoid O’Sullivan and Sean Donnellan were full of running and were getting forward in waves, with the latter scoring a great point just before the break. At halftime Churchill were behind by the minimum 1:06 to 1:05.

The second half was another tight and physical affair with both sides trading points, but Churchill couldn’t get their noses in front.

Approaching full time, with Churchill trailing by two, Jack O’Connell hit the crossbar with the Skellig keeper beaten. Skellig added another point on the break in injury time as we searched for the goal that was needed. Final score Churchill 1:08 Skellig 1:11
