Seniors: Churchill just about got the better of a spirited Asdee team in the Co League on Sunday afternoon on a scoreline of Asdee 2-07; Churchill 1-14. Churchill’s goal came from Michael “Mixer” O’Brien early in the second half and we managed to keep ahead until the final whistle.

The win keeps Churchill in a tie for third position in the table, but with the teams around us having games in hand it will take a fairly unexpected run of results elsewhere to ensure promotion this year.

We will be looking to see out the season with another win when we entertain Knocknagoshel in our final game of the Co League on 13th August in Churchill and the St Brendan’s Championship will be starting later in the season.

Academy: Academy train continues on Sunday morning at 11am. Remember the Kelloggs GAA Cul Camps takes place in Churchill from 31st July for boys and girls aged 6-13. More details can be found at https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie

U12: Last Wednesday our u12s took part in the Munster Super Blitz in Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney. It was a fantastic experience for the boys to play on the same surface as their heroes on the Kerry team.

We had three great matches against Dr Crokes, Bishopstown and Dooradoyle. After the games the players got to visit the dressing room area where Fionn Fitzgerald spoke to them about some of his experiences in the stadium.

Training continues on Tuesday evenings at 7pm in the Spa pitch. The central league begins in 2 weeks so a large turnout is needed.

U14: The U14 team played in glorious sunshine at spa pitch against John Mitchels on Monday evening, July 17, to play their fifth and final round of Division 2 central league .

Fielding a bare fifteen players, one to fifteen gave a tremendous team performance on the night and can consider themselves very unlucky to lose the game as Darragh O’Sullivan scored a fine goal but the referee decided to give a free instead.

A feature of this game was our goalie Paddy O’Sullivan’s outstanding kick outs finding a teammate virtually all the time.

This was the platform for many of our scores. Our defence were solid with Eoghan Walsh at full back and Donnacha O’Sullivan at centre back in fine form.

Paddy Walsh at midfield, up front Niall Cassidy, Darragh O’Sullivan, Conor Brick and Dylan Walsh with two well taken goals were to the fore. Final score John Mitchels  4-13; Churchill 3- 14.

U16:  Churchill U-16s  were defeated by Na Gaeil last Wednesday night in the County League.

We were missing a number of players due to holidays and injuries. On this Wednesday Night 26th of July at 7pm we play Milltown/C’maine away from home. Bus for the game departs Fenit at 5.30 pm and the Spa at 5.45 pm.

Our final game in the County League is at home to An Ghaeltacht on Wednesday 2nd August at 7 pm.
