Academy: Our under 6, 8 & 10’s welcomed Fossa on Sunday morning for a series of matches at our pitches in the Spa.

The players really performed well and thoroughly enjoyed the morning. Thanks to Fossa for making the journey.  We are hoping to arrange more games for next week, but if not training will continue as normal at 11am Sunday morning.

U13/14: Churchill U13’s went to Caherslee on Sunday morning to play Na Gaeil in the final of the Town League.  In glorious sunshine and warmth, we faced a strong Na Gaeil team who scored an early goal from a near in free to rock us from the start.

They continued to find gaps in our defence with strong running and we fought hard with Ben Donnellan and Paddy Falvey competing well at the back. We got on the scoreboard through an Eddie Mccarthy free and 2 from Cian Mason, Oran Murphy and Cian OGara with one each leave us down 4-6 to 0-5 at halftime.

In the second half our link play improved and we got to terms with Na Gaeil but we were always chasing the game.

We fought hard all the way through, and the subs like Donagh Murphy and John Joe Hannafin did well when they came on. Gearoid O’Connor scored 1-1 on his introduction and Eddie tagged on 2-2 as well as a David Feeley point to end the match on a more respectable scoreline of 5-13 to 3-9.

U14s continue training Monday nights in advance of the St Brendans Board Blitz in Churchill on the 7th of October.

U16: Churchill U-16s had a good win over John Mitchells on Sunday, and have now qualified for the Tralee Town Board League final. Our opponents in the final and date of fixture have yet to be determined.

U14 girls who defeated Rahillys.

U14 Churchill ladies: Our u14 girls took on Kerins O’Rahillys B in the First Round of the Town League. It was a fantastic game of football with both teams giving it their all, making it a very close game all the way through.

At half time Kerins O’Rahillys led by three points. Churchill went into the second half with one thing in mind, to win. Emma and Ellen gave it their all fighting for every ball mid field and there was some brilliant play by our half backs with Blathin making great runs up the field and scoring a lovely goal and with Saoirse grabbing each ball that came her way and getting it up to our half forwards Kayleigh and Ashley.

They both got some superb scores both from play and well kicked frees. Our full forwards played well with Clodagh and Lauren C making themselves available for every ball that came in and Lauren contributing to the score.

Churchill went ahead by two points nearing the last few minutes and with serious defending from our full backs, Abi and Lauren T and some lovely saves by our goal keeper Lucy we kept the lead.

The girls were absolutely delighted with their win and us mentors are so proud of them as their hard work and commitment really showed. Thanks to Kerins o Rahillys for a great game and to the referee. Final score: Churchill 3-10 Kerins O’Rahillys 4-5
