Churchill crestUnder 10: Our U10s travelled to the Mallow complex on Saturday for a Munster blitz. 23 players in total made the trip and we had an extremely enjoyable day out.

The Black team took on Kilmihil, Firies and Shannon Gaels, while the Green team played Listowel Emmets, Shannon Gaels and Kilmihil.

Following on from their heroic displays the previous week all players put in fantastic performances and really showcased all the hard work and practice they have put in since March. The mentors are delighted with the improvement across the board. The players should take great pride in the year that they have had and also their exemplary behaviour on away trips. They are a credit to the club and their parents.

Black Team: D Buttimer, J Deady, A Harty, M Lenihan, J McGibney, K O’Dowd, L M O’Gara, A O’Sullivan, L Parker, S M Redican, D Harty.

Green Team: B Borowy, R Boyd, G Clifford, J Favaudon, G Hamilton, R Hickey, H Lenihan, C O’Sullivan, T Quilter, A Tuite, S Hickey, M O’Sullivan.

Final outing this year is the Austin Stacks tournament on 30th Oct – more details to follow.

Family 6k Fun Run/Walk: The second annual Churchill 6k took place on Sunday afternoon in the Spa. Thankfully the clouds passed before the run and the rain held off until the close on 200 runners had made it home. Aidan McCarthy, Jessica McCarthy and David Chute were the first man, woman and U16 across the line.

DJ Padraig got everyone in the mood with some great tunes before and after the race and Ivan Parker put everyone through their paces in the warm up.

Thanks to Radar Sports for supplying the finish line and to everyone who contributed to the day including stewards, timekeepers, and everyone that supplied sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee. It’s not often you get home from a run heavier than when you left!

Of course the biggest thank you is to everyone who participated in the event.  A full list of runners and times are available on the Churchill website www.churchillgaa.ie under the News banner.
