IN our report about the Tralee International Resource Centre Christmas party on Saturday, it was stated by Gillian Wharton that the residents of Johnston Marina Direct Provision centre did not get a cooked dinner on Christmas Day because the kitchen wasn’t open.
“We have this [party] every year for the people in the Johnston Marina Direct Provision house because they don’t get a cooked Christmas dinner on Christmas Day,” she said.
The Manager of the Johnston Marina centre has contacted us to say that this statement is completely untrue and the residents do receive a cooked Christmas dinner on Christmas Day.
The Tralee International Resource Centre has contacted us to say that the information given was wrong and that in Johnston Marina and Atlas House there is a full Christmas dinner cooked on Christmas Day and is available for all residents.
We are happy to clarify this.
