TRALEE Sinn Féin councillor Cathal Foley has called on the HSE to provide clarity on Covid-19 testing and waiting times for results.

Speaking after being contacted by several constituents, Cllr Foley said: “I have been contacted by many people in the past few weeks who are worried about the length of time they are waiting to be tested and from those, that when tested are experiencing long delays in getting their results.”

“Yesterday I was contacted by a cancer patient who has had planned chemotherapy postponed on a number of occasions as they are awaiting results of a test taken two weeks ago.

“I am also aware of front line health workers who are waiting similar lengths of time. These people are under enough stress at present without adding this extra worry.”

“Surely such people must be prioritised if we are to defeat this virus and protect our most vulnerable. Pa Daly TD has raised the case of the cancer patient directly with the HSE,” said Cllr Foley.
