A TRALEE councillor has proposed the erection of a memorial to those who have died from COVID-19 in the county.

Sinn Féin Cllr. Cathal Foley had a motion before the online meeting of Tralee Municipal District on Monday that the authority will, in the future, design and erect a suitable memorial to all those from the county who died from the virus.

Cllr Foley said that the pandemic will pass, but its effects will be felt for a long time to come and it would be appropriate to remember those affected. He said the Island of Geese site would be a suitable location for the memorial.

In reply, the Council said they will examine all proposals to commemorate on a countywide basis all the victims of the pandemic and also the heroism of our frontline works. This will be referred to the Corporate Policy Group for consideration.

That’s so Sinn Féin to virtue signal in this way – what a load of rubbish.

Sinn Féin should be calling out the World Health Organisation for the cover up they did for communist China, especially when it looks like the virus got lose from a lab not a market.
