Commemoration On Sunday In Tralee To Mark Centenary Of End Of WW1

THE public is invited to a wreath-laying ceremony this Sunday morning in Tralee to mark the centenary of the end of World War 1.

Organised by Tralee  Municipal District, the commemoration will take place at the WWI memorial at Ballymullen (opposite The Munster Bar).

It will begin at 11am with an introduction by Jean Foley, Tralee Municipal District Officer, followed by a recital of the poem ‘We Will Remember Them’ by Sam Locke, who had a relative who fought in World War 1.

Then Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council Norma Foley and Cllr Sam Locke will then lay wreaths. The ceremony will conclude with The Last Post performed by Mark Wright.

Hundreds of people from Tralee fought in World War 1 and their names are incribed on the two plaques in Ballymullen. A special invitation is extended to family members of those who fought to attend the ceremony.
