THE Ardfert community has come together to help a woman, recently diagnosed with breast cancer, to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Care Unit in Cork University Hospital.
Ardfert mother of two, Andrea Hogan (36), turned the news of her diagnosis into a positive and has decided to raise the funds for the Breast Care Unit while also donating her hair to the Rapunzel foundation which makes wigs for those suffering from permanent hair loss.
On this Friday, Andrea and her gang of friends will be hosting a fundraising night in McElligotts Bar, Ardfert.
On the night Andrea will have her long locks cut by hairdresser Breeda O’Halloran from Ballyheigue on behalf of the Rapunzel foundation.
Some of the male contingent on the night will also step up and have their legs waxed. Food and music will be provided by McElligotts and it is all set to be a great night.
To highlight the breast cancer awareness, Andrea herself will wear pink on the night and would love any of the crowd to join her…even the men!
There will be a raffle with plenty of spot prizes donated from the local businesses.
Donations are currently been taken and you can contact Brenda on 086-3317101 if you would like to help in anyway or make a donation.
Andrea, who is beginning her treatment in Cork next week, said she would love for a big crowd on the night as she hopes to raise as much as possible for this very worthwhile cause.
love you andrea.
