Millions Of Euro To Be Invested In Kerry Community Hospitals

LISTOWEL, Killarney and Cahersiveen Community Hospitals will see over €28m in investment in the next five years after funding was confirmed by Labour’s Minister for the Elderly, Kathleen Lynch, today.

Listowel Community Hospital will undergo a €2.69 million refurbishment to be completed in 2018, Caherciveen €2.25 million with completion in 2020 and a new €23.4 million Killarney Community Hospital will be built with expected completion by 2021.

The funding, confirmed by the Minister, benefits 90 centres nationally which will either be refurbished or replaced.

Welcoming the news, Kerry Labour Deputy Arthur Spring said: “I am pleased to confirm that Caherciveen, Killarney and Listowel Community Hospitals have been included in this unprecedented investment package for public nursing homes today. The future of these public nursing homes is now secure as a result of this announcement, something which is very reassuring for those living in these homes and indeed their families throughout the county.”

    It will be a massive benefit to the community and the families of people Attending the Hospitals
    Caherciveen was built in 1955 and my Sister and I were the first twins born there-in 1956.They continue to do fantastic work there.
