Company Makes Donation To BUMBLEance Following Teddy Bear Hospital Event

FOLLOWING the successful Teddy Bear Hospital event recently held at the Kerry Campus, MTU has announced that building contractors JJ Rhatigan & Company have made a significant donation to the event charity partner, BUMBLEance.

The aim of the Teddy Bear Hospital was to ease the stress and tension that a child feels when attending a hospital or when seeing a doctor, as well as finding out more about what doctors, nurses and healthcare specialists and professionals do as part of their jobs.

Using the cuddly teddy bears, MTU and RCSI medical, healthcare, and science students, and staff showed children what happens in a hospital, who works there and how the ‘Teddy Doctor’ helps the sick teddy to feel better.

Commenting on the company’s support Marketing Manager, Laura Maye said; “JJ Rhatigan & Company is proud to be building the cutting-edge STEM facility at the Munster Technological University Tralee and thrilled to have been given the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children through our support of BUMBLEance, the Children’s Ambulance Service of Ireland. Welcoming the support Dr Eilish Broderick, Head of School of STEM said,” we are extremely grateful to JJ Rhatigan & Company for their generosity.  The Teddy Bear Hospital was a wonderful community event that aimed is to help children feel comfortable when interacting with healthcare professionals. The event also highlighted the important services of BUMLEance, the world’s first ambulance service specifically designed and tailored for children. We look forward to continuing to work with JJ Rhatigan & Company as they work on the construction of our new STEM building at the North Campus which will open in 2025”.
