Concert Raises Thousands For Baile Mhuire Day Care Centre

A LOCAL choir presented a cheque for thousands of euros to Baile Mhuire Day Care Centre.

It all came about when Trish White and Renee Fitzgibbon, both members of the Opus 96 Chamber Choir, contacted Baile Mhuire to say that they would like to organise a concert to raise money for the facility.

Paddy Garvey, Chairperson, Baile Mhuire and Caroline Corkery, Chairperson Fundraising Committee met with Trish and Renee to discuss this and the theme of the concert decided upon was ‘A Little Help from My Friends’, which was about people getting together to raise money for a worthy cause.

On the night there was special guest, Ardfert Ladies choir, Lloyd Fitzgibbon – Tenor and ‘Friends of Baile Mhuire, who were Johnny Moriarty and Michael McCarthy.

The musical director was Martina Ryan Murphy and Anna Connolly was the Accompanist.  The concert was held at the Rose Hotel on Sunday May the 15th and it was a full house.

The concert was a great success and everyone really enjoyed it.   There was a total of €6,205 raised which went to the new bus fund.
