CONSTRUCTION work on the new Listellick NS is scheduled to begin this summer according to Principal Annette Dineen.
Ms Dineen said the tenders for the project were back in and work will start on the site, directly across the road from the current building, during the summer months.
Minister for Education Norma Foley called to the school on Friday and looked over the plans with the principal and Chairperson of the School Board of Management, Frances Day.

The building, which will be a single storey structure, will include eight classrooms, resource rooms, a library and a sports hall. Once construction begins it is estimated it will take 12 months to complete.
On her visit, Minister Foley also met children from the Listellick school debating team who, as of Monday morning, qualified for the Concern Primary Schools Debating All-Ireland Semi-Final after defeating a team from Monaghan in the quarter-final.
