CORK Sinn Féin TD Donnchadh O’Laoighaire TD will be the keynote speaker at the annual Easter Rising commemoration in Tralee this Sunday.

Speaking ahead of the commemoration, Deputy O’Laoighaire said; “I’m delighted to be asked to speak in Tralee on Easter Sunday. Sinn Féin remains steadfastly committed to the realisation of the vision of the men and women of 1916.

“Kerry played a pivotal role in the events surrounding the Rising with the first casualties taking place in Killorglin, I am honoured to be the speaker at this year’s commemoration in Tralee and I look forward to meeting with my comrades who have kept alive the memory of our patriot dead.”

The commemoration in Tralee will leave The Square at 12.30pm on Easter Sunday and proceed to the Republican Plot in Rath graveyard. The event will be chaired by Councillor Pa Daly from Tralee.

This event is separate to Kerry County Council’s Easter Rising commemoration which takes place at Pearse Park at 12noon and features the unveiling of a commemorative stone.
