The new Páirc Uí Chaoimh stadium will not host the Munster football finals scheduled for July 2,  the Cork County Board has confirmed, making it likely that Killarney will be the venue for the games.

It was planned that the Cork v Kerry showpiece would be the the attraction on opening day but the redevelopment will not be finished by   July 2.c

The board was informed this morning that the scheduled handover date of June 18 would not be met.

The hurling final between Clare and the winner of Waterford and Cork was due to be played in the new stadium on July 9, but that too will be moved to another venue.

Even though the completion date is now July 7, it will be mid-July before it can host a game.

Munster GAA are yet to confirm the new final venues but as Cork and Kerry have a hosting agreement it’s expected that Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney will host the finals.
